Thesaurus Thursday: "Carking."

Hello everybody!  I'm back.  And today's word is "carking," an adjective meaning burdensome or annoying.

Sometimes I am overwhelmed by the carking necessity of yard work.

I don't even know what this is.

This week's regular post will be up sometime this weekend :-).

  2. Hi Amy! I am so frustrated with Blogger at the moment, because I accidentally pressed delete instead of reply and now can't undo it! I know yard work makes my knees hurt, so I'm glad I'm not using that tool right now :-).

  3. D'oh! Let's see--it's a draw or pull hoe; examples of a "draw hoe" and "push hoe" are on Wikipedia here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hoe_(tool), and just seeing it makes my back twinge, something like that; doing my usual pedantic thing.

I did not know what "carking" meant. It sounds vaguely obscene, which somehow makes it funnier. I'll remember it when I scrub the carking broiler pan!

    1. Thanks for re-posting! I knew it was "some sort of hoe" and that was about it. I agree about "carking"; it is a great alternative to curse words!
